Mitchell Shorgan, M.Sc.
Biologist
Mitchell is an aquatic biologist who joined KAL in 2025 after completing a M.Sc. at Trent University in Environmental and Life Sciences. His thesis focused on validating a novel acoustic telemetry tracking system to study predator-prey interactions in fishes. He also has a B.Sc. from the University of Guelph in Marine and Freshwater Biology.
Mitchell has extensive field experience working in a field setting capturing tagging, and studying fish behaviour. Prior to joining KAL, Mitchell worked for the Canadian Wildlife Service’s protected areas as a technician involved with habitat restoration, wetland monitoring, vegetation surveys and reptile surveys. Prior to his time with the Canadian Wildlife Service Mitchell worked as an aquaculture technician responsible for day to day operations.
Since joining KAL, he has helped our team support mining clients in Nunavut and Sudbury, Ontario. Mitchell’s extensive experience working with fish, boats and ATVs, and working in a remote field environment has allowed him to fit seamlessly with the KAL team.
