Biologist
s. Velichka is a biologist with a background in aquatic and terrestrial ecology. Her work spans Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for development projects, Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) for mining projects, oil sands water quality assessments, and hydroelectric entrainment studies. She has conducted extensive fieldwork across Canada, including fish and benthos community surveys, electrofishing, invasive species mapping, acoustic fish tracking, anuran and breeding bird surveys, vegetation inventories, and species at risk monitoring. Her collaborative projects with government agencies, industry partners, and research teams include aquatic monitoring for fish farms, mercury and stable isotope studies, evaluations of biocontrol impacts, and support in the development of site‑specific water quality triggers and provincial water quality guidelines. Across all projects, Ms. Velichka combines rigorous field skills with strong scientific writing and data interpretation to support evidence‑based environmental decision‑making.
