Jenni Velichka, M.Sc.

Biologist

Jenni completed her undergraduate at Queen’s University in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies. She then proceeded to complete her MSc in Biology at McMaster University where she examined the spatial and species differences in numerous contaminants and nutrients in fish in relation to a large hydroelectric dam. During her project, Jenni collaborated with numerous stakeholders, including industry, academia and local Indigenous communities, to perform aquatic field work and collect data, which helped build baselines and environmental metrics leading to effective environmental assessment.

Through her work and schooling, Jenni has gained extensive aquatic lab and field work experience in fish and invertebrate community surveys, water quality measurements, invasive species mapping, food source sampling, boat and backpack electrofishing, and contaminant and nutrient analyses of fish tissue. She also has experience in terrestrial lab and field work collecting and rearing plants and insects looking for non-target effects of parasitoid wasps with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Since joining Kilgour & Associates Ltd. in February 2023, Jenni has worked on projects involving community surveys for Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) and the development of water quality guidelines (WQGs) for the province of British Columbia.
