Kurtis Westbury, M.Sc.

Biologist

Kurtis completed his B.Sc. from Acadia University in Biology and M.Sc from Queens. He studied the metabolic response of zooplankton to low oxygen levels in lakes across the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, ON. With the data collected over multiple years of field work, Kurtis produced a research thesis and publications that described the physiological response of Daphnia to hypoxia.

He comes to us with work experience with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA). During these work contracts he gained experience as an aquatic invasive species technician and was tasked with sampling lakes and streams for a Water Quality Index (WQI) analysis.

Kurtis joined Kilgour & Associates in May of 2022 and has since gained experience working on both field and laboratory projects for land development and metal mining clients. This includes work in Ottawa and Sudbury.
